The Tap Dancers: We were "The McCalligan Family". Mom made all the costumes. Tapping for about 3 years, when and where Dad took us, day or night. This was the summer of 1950 and we. the whole family away on a 10 state vacation/Minnie summer tour ...We were big at the Moose, Elks, Eagles and danced a matinee performance or two at the Shell in LA and at several small venues in the Midwest while on vacation trips. It seemed to be a dream that his kids were going to be entertainers or some such BS...although Mary Ellen, second from the left did go on to do some theater in San Francisco but became a victim of cancer at age 54 in 1989. She was a true sweetheart and was a RN working in the kidney transplant department at San Francisco General before she died. I really miss her. I still fine myself saying " I need to call Mary Ellen and tell her this". Then realizing that she is gone I look up and just tell her that I love her. Now Rose Marie is gone to. Two down three to go as I write this, wow was that fast. Ugene |
