BABY SHARK BIO |
Baby Shark is modeled from many different types of sharks; I did not want it to have a look that would be too intimidating, so this is my interpretation Baby Shark 21 x 22 x 48 long. Created with copper, brass, steel and silver, along with some heart and soul.
This was a 6 month endeavor. I started with a roll of number four copper wire, fashioned it into an armature of what this Baby Shark was to look like.
Using silver solder to attach all the interwoven pieces that would outline all the features I wanted to stay prominent. Bending, twisting, grinding, hammering and filing its skeleton into the final form, ready for its copper skin.
Then making patterns of the many sections and transferring them on to copper sheets, cutting and annealing to make it softer, enabling me to work them into the form and flow with my hands, tapping all the edges down with my small ball-peen hammer and welding them to the armature with silver solder.
After all the pieces were on and welded into place, there where long days of filing, shaping and sanding into its final form. The same thing happens with the base. I sculpted this at the same time I was doing the shark, so it becomes part of the flow.
I then applied the process of torching on a heavy fusion of molten brass, leaving some copper highlights to come thought giving the affect of a gold nugget, achieving the texture, feel and look I was striving for.
After more days of hand filing, sanding and buffing, I was ready to attach the one-half inch thick steel base plate that I had shaped, drilled and painted and attached it with eight, stainless steel allen-head bolts, with rubber pads.
In my minds view, I see “Baby Shark” gliding along the sea floor pulling the water along with it after the point of the power stroke that it had been in.
Now with completion anxiety setting in, I signed it...
Giving it a generous application of Carnauba paste wax, polished to a nice high luster. Stepped back, looked up and said thank you
This piece has a very good hands-on feeling, you will fine yourself running your fingers along its textured smooth powerful flowing lines finding its grace and freedom. All the anatomical parts are doing the right thing for that moment in time

If you are to be Baby Sharks new owner, you are buying it from the Artist. I will pack it safely, insure and send it off to its new home I know you will enjoy, for as long as you have it.
This is a one only piece, as are all my works . It shows well 360 degrees as a stand-alone inside piece. It is stunning under soft lighting or the incoming sunlight. All it needs is to be waxed lightly now and then.
Sorry: "Baby Shark" Has been sold.
