me & Paul in MG

MGTD.. Sports cars were all over California. I wanted one bad. To celebrate my sixteenth birthday I did San Francisco for Christmas with my friend Jack Barker, in my forty-six Chevy, got back and spotted this one.

I bought this rig at Shepherd Motors a local Foreign Car dealer in Eugene, that's what they were called in thoughts days. This was the first TD in Eugene and was one of two or three in the state at that time. I traded in my 46 Chevy.

In this Adventure, me and my bud Bill Firestone had blasted down to LA to see my friend Paul Thompson, in the summer of fifty-five just before I joined the Navy.

We went down the Pacific Coast Hi Way, stopped in San Francisco to see my sweet sister Mary Ellen. Then through Carmel, the land of Art Galleys. All the cool spots we could find

This is me and Paul in a staged pose. Bill took the picture with my Brownie camera, at what was then, Pal Del Ray Beach. This must of been about the time I decided pictures my be of some value down the road.

We were off to Disney Land, it had just opened three month before we got there. We did, Knots Berry Farm, Malibu, all the beaches, Hollywood, all the cool places at the time.

The top stayed down the hole trip. We were all seventeen. Oregon Boys. It was a blast....

So if you are the proud owner of a red 1952 mgtd with green interior and a Bermuda bell under the floor board of the drivers side you have my td and I know you are having a very good time.

I had come home on leave for Christmas in 1956 and my dad wanted me to let him trade in my MG for a new 1956 ford pu he wanted to buy for himself and would send me my money as soon as the deal was done as I had to leave that day and go back to the Navy base. I resisted until about the 10th time of his request, but finely caved. He and my mother assured me they would send me my money as soon as the deal was done. I signed my title and left for Hawaii. I never did get my money, ask for it but finely gave up.
