Me and my Colombia Bike. That summer with the thrill of the sights, lights and sounds of the roller skating rink slid off...and the relief of the tap dancing career was over.  I sold my custom white hi top roller-rink skates and my 410/22 over-under rifle and with the money bought a used Whizzer motor bike and reinstalled it on this HD Colombia bike and would run some lonely, wonderful paved back roads around town and out to the river. It was like a motor cycle, bud Jackson had a Doodle Bug. It was a blast.

My dads second log hauler a Mack "L J" in the back ground, one of five he had over his trucking days. this one came with a big Mack straight 6 gas motor all new in 49 he had a big block Buda diesel installed in 1950, it added 6 inches to the length of the nose. I remember him liking the look and yes that is a wood reach. No stakes ..just cheese blocks, info for the few who know this stuff.

It was on a Saturday and about time for me to jump on my ride and head for work at the welding shop.

Get back home and grease the Mack LJ log truck and trailer, miss one grease zerk and there were 44, the "Nebraska Kid" he was a professional prize fighter in his 20's,would kick my ass, again. This became a mandated job weekly at 6. In this photo I was 14 and had missed a zerk or two in my time and paid the price.

I had left my bike out front of the house one day/not night and it was snatched. Some 40 years later I get the call...

"I'm the one that stole your bike"...now that took some guts and I did appreciate the call......
